Sometimes you have to go through the worst situations in order to have really good ones. I have found my favorite doctor in New York. Sure, she’s only the second one I’ve been to, but I couldn’t have asked for a better visit. Dr. Dacko performed a biopsy on my back, not because she thought it was necessary at all, but because I was worried and she wanted to let me know that I had nothing to worry about. I realized as I was walking to her office that I was actually incredibly scared, especially after my last visit. This time I went alone and I could feel all this anxiety rising up in me. When I decided to do the biopsy, I wished someone was there to hold my hand, but she walked me through it and I felt completely safe. Now I have a couple of stitches in my back and I’m waiting for the numbing solution to wear off and the soreness to begin. I’ll know the results in two weeks.
Today is my sister’s 31 birthday. I love her so much and hope that this is an amazing year for her. She’s strong, smart, wise, patient, sensitive, and loving. And many other things. Happy birthday, big sister! Love you.
Last night Joe and I flew a kite in Battery Park. This spot is supposed to be rated best for kite-flying, but we had mixed results. There wasn’t a ton of open area and one woman cursed at us as the kite swooped down and almost hit her. We found a grassy area but there was a sign warning “No Active Recreation.” We had no idea what that meant. Why active? If we lay down and flew a kite at the same time, would that be passive? There was another nice spot next to this one and no sign warning us to stay off, so we flew the finicky kite a little more. Then we watched the sunset and the boats going by. (I forgot the digi-cam. Next time.)
Maybe Saturn Return isn’t going to be so bad after all. Two and a half weeks after my birthday, things are really looking up.
Maybe it’s the minor medical procedure I had today, but I’m feeling very calm and good and loved. Thanks for supporting me. I feel so lucky to have my life.

~Time for a new book. Any fiction suggestions that are just divine?
~Recent movie screenings: Shortbus (meh) and Science of Sleep (great eye candy and sweet, but might have gone on a bit long for my taste.)
Tonight I’m probably going to go out with Kim and some other folks. I feel like I haven’t seen her in forever. I need to see how my back is feeling before I decide what to do.
