Attitude Problem

I was telling Jen G. that I need a new attitude about writing. I'm in this program because I want to be a writer and I've been acting like my professors are trying to punish me by forcing me to do my work. Jen said that sometimes she treats the program like she has to take out the trash or change the cat litter. We both agreed that sometimes we get more satisfaction from taking out the litter. This is all going to change now that I'm in a new semester. I want to get as much as I can out of my school while I still have the feedback and attention of my mentors.

My parents have come and gone. I still think that they should move here, but it's looking less and less likely. I'm still unclear why this is the case. (Happy birthday, Mom!)

(I just squirt the juice of my orange into my eye.)

Aimee's away in Boston being artsy. Kim leaves for Amsterdam soon. Kasey comes to town this weekend. Then Paulette graces New York with her genius self. Sometimes I feel like I'm standing still and everything/one is moving around me. (So self-centered am I.)

I've started running again and I feel great. It's beautiful and warm. I've been appreciating the East River.

I've reinstated the old canola oil trick with Cornelius and last night she slept through the night. All praise! Plus I figured out how to open a screened window, so for the first time in six months, I have "fresh" air in my apartment.

Big News: Riva might start a blog someday!
