Three Exclamation Points

Back it up, back it up. Wow, days are so confusing. All I know is that last night, I did nothing. I hung out at home, napping and reading. Mellow me time. Such a necessary thing.

Two nights ago, Alyssa and I made more muffins. So many muffins. So many disasters in the kitchen. Even a fire alarm incident at one point.

Today was an ACT-UP rally. To protect people's privacy, I'll only post this picture of me and Mr. Policeman.

Off to hang out with a non-Alyssa friend and maybe see someone that has a crush on me.

New day: at work. Saw the person I wanted to see but think it's pretty much not going to happen. I'm 97 percent over it.

I got to listen to my new favorite song 16,000 times: When I Go Deaf by Low. Up until yesterday, I'd never heard of them, but I'm being forced to go see them in concert in order to make someone else jealous (that's right, I'm allowing myself to be used as a prop). They're Mormon; I'm supporting a Mormon band.

Tonight I'm having Shabbat with Alyssa and Aimee returns!!! Yeeehaw!

Top two pictures are us working off the muffins to Erasure and Fleetwood Mac. I'm not ashamed. (Notice Cornelius in the background trying not to stare at us.)

So Very Sleepy

Yesterday:
*Met up with Alyssa to "work" on school stuff at Mud Cafe. We wowed the crowd with our wit.
*Ran around for two hours buying ingredients to make bran muffins for our first trial run. We plan to open a bakery called Scapegoat Bakery in the East Village. My main responsibilities will be checking my email and flirting with the customers.
*Watched three episodes of "Wonderfalls," taught Alyssa the word game, ate 5 muffins each, and went to bed at 3:30 am.
Today:
*woke up at 9:30 and tried to thrift store shop. I ended up with two items, one of which was so unreasonably expensive, I have vowed to never speak the price aloud to anyone.
*came back to my house and hung out for an hour doing laundry and gchatting with four people at once.
*Alyssa left and I attempted to nap.
*met Kim at Mo Pitkin's for what turned out to be a really good reading. Perhaps it was the sleep-deprivation, but I even shed a tear or two and thought about how happy I am to be friends with Kim.
*walked Kim to subway with a pit-stop at Ricky's where I made her promise to not let me buy anything. I bought two things.
*Home, Bed, 10:04 pm.
*Exhaustion.

Important discovery: Alyssa and I may have figured out the secret to keeping Corny content/almost silent: feeding her less than a teaspoon of veggie oil in between meals.

p.s. this picture is totally cheating, since it's from a week or so ago. it serves as an example of a late night hangout/picnic in my apartment with Alyssa, who may mistakenly think she is my roommate.

I wish I could afford this book. But would I read it? Or would it just over-stimulate me more than I already am?

Back To Text

Confession: I miss Photo Blog Week. Simultaneously, it was super fun and super stressful. My computer is really slow to upload pictures since I’m stealing internet access from other people who live in my building. The fun part was forcing myself to slow down enough to take pictures and to see all the amazing things around me. I definitely prioritized photo blog week over my writing and it’s for the best that I have to get back down to my work, but as you know, I am a huge sucker for a distraction/project/assignment.

Two nights ago Alyssa (you remember her, right?) and I went to Aimee’s sister, Cindy’s birthday party. We brought her a mini-pig magnet and a little porcelain pig dish. We gave Yohei (the other birthday party celebratee, a giant dried chili pepper bundle, which I think he liked but maybe I overwhelmed him with it, as I am wont to do. I’m not sure.

After the party, Alyssa and I walked home from midtown, stopping to get hotdogs and then to eat ice cream at Sundaes and Cones. This didn’t really go with my salad detox, but both hotdogs and ice cream could (should?) be salad ingredients in my opinion.

Last night, Kim and I went to Yaffa for dinner. Then we came back to my apartment and talked until really late. We discovered that we’re actually a lot like we were in high school. I always thought that at the core, I’m nothing more than a person who is constantly reinventing myself, but Kim insisted that I’ve always been like this. She said my core is “challenge.” I like challenging myself and other people. That’s kind of cool, I guess.

Today I’m supposed to be writing a new draft of a story and focusing on school. I’ve written about three pages. The ADD has kicked in. I’ve been dancing around my apartment and doing made-up yoga poses. I refuse to go outside even though I think it’s really nice out because I must have alone, serious school time today.

Tomorrow Alyssa and I hit the streets for thrift store shopping. I sent her a list of places and she’s supposed to make us a map/itinerary to follow.

Aimee returns at the end of the week! I can’t believe how fast time flew. So much fun is about to happen, I don’t know if I can stand it.
