The first weekend of every month, Joseph and I take a break from our no carbs/no desserts diet. Yesterday, we ate dinner at Ichiumi, the sushi buffet, which is about the length of a New York block, avenue to avenue. After dinner, we rolled our stuffed bellies over to Chelsea to listen to one of my personal heroes, Paul Reubens, who was interviewed as part of The New Yorker Festival. What I love about Reubens is that he created a better world in which creativity and silliness are celebrated.
Today we drove to Wave Hill for a Farm to Table buffet brunch, where we were served food from a 100-mile radius of New York City. Two buffets in one weekend!
The menu included: hazelnut and ricotta pancakes with maple syrup; cayuga whole wheat waffles with grilled peaches and cinnamon honey mascarpone; sausage; bacon; warm biscuits with poached eggs; smoked trout on savory cheesecake; leg of lamb served with apple and celery root remoulade, zucchini bread; and shortbread with macerated strawberries and cream.
This weekend was a perfect beginning to fall.
