Unintentional tourism

We didn't want to be tourists tonight; it just sort of happened that way.

Denise and I planned to check out a bar near my work, Subway Inn, which is supposed to be one of the last remaining dive bars in Manhattan. A dive indeed: the place smelled like a bathroom, the music blared, and every seat in the house was taken.

Someone on yelp wrote:

"I love a good dive, so long as the staff provides a nose clip and goggles.

Ew. Ew. Ew. I can scratch at my tongue all night, but I'll never get clean a la Lady McBeth.

Subway Inn is trashy, nasty, and absolutely scummy. I went on a bad date here. I don't really talk to that guy anymore..."

So yeah, I guess I like dive bars, but not that divey.

We ended up at Serendipity 3 where we each enjoyed a Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. I'm trapped in a vicious tourist cycle, although there's nothing vicious about it.

ALSO! One hour until Obama's speech. I can't contain my excitement.
