The drilling from last night ended at 3 am. Yep. Today I wore the brown dress that Kimberley and I found at Filene's for eight dollars and it was so comfy, similar to wearing nothing except I had layers over it. I want to live in it.
Aimee came by work and I abandoned my job to hang out (not that anyone at work cares or notices). We had tea and chatted on as though we hadn't seen each other two days before. New friends are so fun!!! And she came bearing gifts, which I should have expected. I am truly, truly disappointed in myself because during the drilling last night, I was thinking of what I wanted to give Aimee, but I was too lazy to leave the air mattress and I met her with empty hands. She gave me another hand-made journal that is so, so beautiful and precious and I'm afraid to use it because it's so perfect. I've been told to get over this.
I spent most of the day researching really cool, obscure art books from other countries. Each book took an average of an hour to learn about, so I felt like I was on a treasure hunt through the internet. The trance I get in while rescuing books from the depths of obscurity is similar to the writing trance (as long as my coworkers are semi-mellow).
After work, I was running, running, running home because the mattress guy called and said he was waiting for me. Guess who I saw again? Peter Dinklage!
Right near my home with a tall blonde woman. We made eye-contact (maybe because my coat is bright green) and I felt less nervous this time, but I couldn't say anything because mattress man was waiting. So now I have a real bed!!!! I'm going to unwrap it from the gigantic plastic wrapper soon. Who knew a mattress could be so exciting?
I'm about to have some tomato and red-pepper Trader Joe's soup and get some writing going. I found out I get tomorrow off because of a change in plans regarding my new hire orientation, which I need to attend. I have so much free time right now. It's adding to the whole I go to summer camp and not work feeling.
